About Me
Emma Dorfman
I am a dramaturg, playwright, performer, creative facilitator, researcher, and academic. I have worked with theatre companies and collectives from all over the world, including Life Jacket Theatre Company (NYC), where I was Resident Dramaturg, Projekt Europa (UK), the Lucille Lortel Theatre (NYC), The Attic (Toronto) the New York NeoFuturists, and Fresh Ground Pepper (NYC). Currently, I am a PhD Candidate at the University of Edinburgh, embarking on a collaborative studentship with the Traverse Theatre on Pasts, Presents, and Futures of Digitally-Mediated Theatre. I am also a visiting lecturer for Birkbeck’s MA Dramaturgy Programme, a contributor for Fringebiscuit Magazine and Always Time for Theatre, and also have been published in Contemporary Theatre Review. I am a proud graduate of the MA in Dramaturgy and Writing for Performance Programme at Goldsmiths in London, where I completed my first full-length play, After. Additionally, I graduated from NYU Tisch School of Drama with honours in Theatre Studies and was the sole recipient of the Bevya Rosten Memorial Award.
I am available for R&D project work, production dramaturgy, creative facilitation, script consultations, and dramaturgical reports. My hourly/day rates are available upon request.
